My Personal All-Time Favorite Movies

1.THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION

First of all, I have never heard of this story until the series "Prison Break" came out and one of my friends said that the series is quite similar to "Shawshank Redemption" and all of them starts discussing in-depth about the movie and I, of course, have no idea what are they talking about. Naturally, people would just shut it when they don't know about a topic but being me, inquisitive of course, ask them "What are you guys talking about?". Suddenly they just stared at me in disbelief with jaw wide open with their WHAT!!! face and one of my friends just said,"Man, you haven't lived if you haven't seen Shawshank Redemption". So, on the spot, they gave me their copy of Shawshank Redemption and to my surprise, I liked it very much. And now it is on top of my favorite movie list. :-) Thanks bros for introducing this movie.

2. FORREST GUMP

Forrest Gump is the best when it comes to stitching a fictional story with a factual history as its background. Nicely done. It is a mash of quirky characters and a heartfelt journey of ones life. I truly feel the sadness, the happiness, the weird moments and of course, love. I would if I could given this movie a 10 thumbs up, but alas, I only have 2 thumbs and this movie can have it both :-)

3. THE GLADIATOR

ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!!! Well, I am most certainly am, Mr. Russell Crowe. Thank you for asking :-). Russell Crowe's role in this movie gave it a strong impression. A character that within him contained great sadness, anger and love for his people, he truly is a great man and undoubtedly be a great leader. You want to feel heroic and want patriotism to surge within you? Then watch this movie. Period.

4. 300

300... What can I say... It is simply AWESOME... Yes, one word says it all. Like Leonidas says to the Persian messenger,"THIS IS SPARTA!!!" before kicking him into the well to plummet to his death, this story is as surprising and powerful as that moment. Haven't seen it? GO GET IT!!!

5. SAVING PRIVATE RYAN

This movie is simply moving... I feel the horror and the dreadfulness of war and feeling thankful that I live in the part of the world that is peaceful. Yes, this story is about saving a man, but it is not the man that is saved that is important, the fallen ones to get that one man to his family are ones that really matters... See their journey, feel them, walk with them and go save private ryan. :-)

6. A WALK TO REMEMBER

Yes, yes, I know it is a love story and I did not include this by mistake. First thing that you all have to know, I am a hopeless romantic. Ask my wife if you don't believe it :-). This movie is no Romeo and Juliet... For me this story is much deeper and the story itself are both beautiful and sad at the same time. At least Juliet can die with Romeo, just saying. This love story is much more profound and a truly sad love story in the best way imaginable. "But our love is like the wind. I can't see it, but I can feel it."

7. THE SOUND OF MUSIC

Timeless classic... Need I say more? I first seen this movie on TV in 1992 and I kept searching for the original DVD and finally found one in 2010 and it is a 40th anniversary copy to boot and it is the last one at the store. That truly was one of my luckiest day. I do enjoy watching it from time to time when I want to feel "The Sound Of Music". Julie Andrews, where ever you are, thank you. :-)

8. BACK TO THE FUTURE I, II & III

In my country, Michael J. Fox is virtually a nobody up until the movie Back To The Future came on air around in the early 90's, and I got hooked on Marty McFly and Doc Brown ever since. Got all three copies in a boxset on sale in a clearance stock sale of a movie store. Rare find indeed. :-)

9. THE MASK

Oh Mr. Jim Carrey, you certainly put FUN in FUNNY and you have make me smile for a mile because of this movie. Apologies for my bad puns :-). I can't help it, this story just cracks me up and Jim Carrey is not making it any better with his comical face. Furthermore, I like The Mask's smile :-D.

10. THE NEWSIES

Found this little gem of a musical movie in the year 2002 from one of my best friend, which in my opinion, a really gifted person for music. You like underdog story that wants to achieve the impossible? To reach the stars? To go against the mammoths of the media industry of that time? And to do so in supremely stunning dancing choreograph accompanied by music? This is a movie that you need to see. FYI, Christian Bale is one of the cast. Can you identify him? :-)
